The team at BD Veritas would like to do whatever we can to support good causes. There are so many charities approaching us that sometimes we feel guilty for not supporting them all. It seems to me that the more charities approach us in the street the more I walk on by. Too often really - but we can't support them all. The question that this raises for us is "how do we choose which to support?"
We joined the Salisbury Chamber of Commerce to connect with local business - which has worked very well. We think that the Chamber has a great part to play in the community and have sponsored and supported some of the events since we relocated to the area. We strongly believe in supporting local business.
At some of the Chamber events we met with local charities who are also members. Jackie shared a table with someone from Salisbury Hospice. They were looking for support and considering the work they do really made us sit back and think. There can be nothing sadder in a family than losing a loved one. How difficult must it be when someone you love is terminally ill? The people who work at the hospice give support to that person and their family. Most of us find it difficult to imagine how to support someone at such a sad time - but they do it every day. The strength and support to that person and their family is invaluable. We decided to support the Salisbury Hospice by writing a piece for their magazine and donating to the cause with some sponsorship funds.
As well as the Chamber and Hospice we have some personal experiences which guide us to include the donation buttons for Stroke and MS charities through Just Giving in case you would like to help them too.
The work that is being done to improve lives and discover more about the causes of MS and Stroke (and one day hopefully the possibility of a cure) is essential and invaluable. Good luck to the people involved. Help them if you would like by clicking the links.
